Our History
After eighteen years of pastoral ministry in a well-established church, Pastor Steve Keyes felt the calling of a new challenge. He, along with a core group of six couples, envisioned a church that cared deeply for all people, no matter their circumstances, or where they were “coming from”. CRCC would be a church to point these individuals to Jesus, the only source of true hope and encouragement. That was the beginning of CrossRoads Community Church in the year 1996.
Together, after much prayer, research, and discussion, Steve and the core group discovered that Simpsonville was the fastest growing area in Greenville County. They acquired the use of Hillcrest High School and officially began services in November with approximately 120-150 people in attendance. Enjoying steady growth, CrossRoads continued to use the Hillcrest facility for five and a half years.
In 2001 the church purchased twenty acres of beautiful, wooded property on Holland Rd. -- just minutes from exits 31 and 33 on Interstate 385. After erecting an eight-hundred seat, multipurpose auditorium, CrossRoads moved to their present location on Sunday, April 5, 2002. In 2004, we broke ground for a state of the art Children's Ministry wing and celebrated its Grand Opening in 2005.
In 2009, Steve and the Elders felt led to transition the leadership of the church over to Pastor Rich Butler who became the new LEAD PASTOR of CRCC. Steve will stay on as the Founding Pastor/Minister-at-Large.
Today we are a Spirit-filled and Spirit-led congregation where people encounter God – where the Kingdom of God is alive and well - where Hosting the Presence of the Holy Spirit through worship and intercession is our main objective each and every week - where people serve the city with their time and resources. We believe our God is ALIVE and WELL on planet earth and that the best days of our church are not behind us, but ahead of us with greater things YET to come!
